 | lmorovan (15) 06/23/2008 | A criminal on death row deserves the death penalty. He has caused the death of innocent human beings or law enforcement officers, and deserve a punishment proportional to his/her crime. An unborn, defenseless and totally harmless child has not committed any crime, yet is not only executed, but done in the most inhumane and painful manner.

 | HistoryFan (98) 02/26/2006 | I can shed some light on this. The death penalty is given to those who have committed extremely serious crimes against society. These people are NOT innocent and helpless. Stanley "Dookie" Williams and Timothy McVeigh just to name a couple.

 | nataila (0) 09/26/2005 | UPDATE: fetuses hardly fit into a category with murders and rapists, and I never said they do. In my opinion, an undeveloped, unfeeling fetus matters much less. But that's just the way I see it. OC: I don't find the death penalty unjust. I support it as much as I support abortion. Rapists, murderers, pedophiles, let's kill them off while we can. We're already overpopulated as it is.

 | SZinHonshu (44) 07/28/2005 | This statement is fallacious in that it presupposes that a fetus is an unborn baby. The question is, when does the fetus become a human life? If you say it is not a human life until birth, then this statement is easily justified ... also, murder is a loaded, emotional term. Abortions are not murders, they are pregnancy terminations.
Very weak statement that is easy to poke holes in.

 | Mr.Political (18) 05/31/2005 | After all these years since the legalization of abortion, I still can't comprehend how anyone with at least some ounce of sanity could say that anyone has a choice or right to kill another human being...who has done nothing wrong. Why are we giving criminals (who have done what abortion doctors do) more rights then an innocent human life that can't defend itself or speak for itself? What feminazi can honestly say that a child choses to die?

 | James76255 (17) 05/27/2005 | Let's see.... This man killed your entire family, your neighbor, and your dog with a pick axe. This baby ( and YES, it IS a baby) only exists because of your actions. Hmmm. Oh yeah! Kill the baby, but let the poor psycho killer live!

 | CastleBee (83) 05/27/2005 | That people have the audacity to believe they have a right to make judgments about which life has more significance stuns me in the first place. And this example is odd enough. But, what really seems bizarre to me is when a pregnant woman is killed and the lawyers want to charge the person responsible with two murders. I mean, wasn't this piece of flesh already deemed non-human by the human gods that be? Or, is it actually a changeling of some kind with the ability to be simply a nuisance one minute and a precious child the next? And if you can kill a baby who is just about to be born, then why cant you kill it two seconds afterward why not two days or a year? Maybe if you cant talk or dont have teeth then you really arent developed enough to count much in the big scheme of things. This is not just simple hypocrisy but moral relativism and it is really one strange beast.

 | Jar-Jar Binks (16) 05/26/2005 | Abortion is not murder. It is a right for a woman to choose. When you abort the fetus, that does not make it murder. The fetus is not fully developed, therefore it cannot be considered a human being. As for capital punishment, it is unjust because chances are a poor person might fall victim to this as opposed to a person with considerable wealth. Do you know that many innocent people, poor people, teenagers, and mentally retarded individuals are victims to this heinous practice? Why should I support the death penalty?

 | Randyman (104) 05/26/2005 | To my way of thinking, this is the height of hypocrisy. How can anyone justify the murder (my words) of an unborn baby, and yet show compassion for a murderer on death row. Speaks more of political dogma and agenda than anything else.

 | CanadaSucks (47) 05/26/2005 | Says who? Who says abortion is murder? Who says pro-choicers are anti-death penalty? Who says the death penalty is 'murder and unjust'? This listing is based on an archaic idea of political ideology. People don't fit into these convenient boxes anymore. Grow up.

 | Gasbag (0) 05/26/2005 | I wouldnt exacly call it murder. By saying that you make the other side look evil (its not). You can justify that by saying that criminals both cost taxpayers money and are a danger to the public.

 | AndrewScott (72) 05/26/2005 | This is an interesting contradiction, which applies both to many hardline liberals and many hardline right to life folks. A similar contradiction exists with many peoples contrasting attitudes toward war and abortion. I happen to have a middle ground views on all three issues that allows for flexibility based on exceptional circumstances.

 | souljunkie (20) 05/26/2005 | I find the death penalty just and I tend to want to give women the freedom to do what they will with thier own bodies. I know you could call this politically inconsistant (I am republican) but Thats my call. I do believe that abortion is acceptable only for specific reasons and if done at all, should be done in the first trimester but in the end, it has to be the womans choice. A man better be prepared for that if he is hoping for a child when he is with a woman who is undecided. It will be a sad day when the government can force a woman to have a child that is not wanted. I believe a women who gives up her child will live in her own hell at some point. Gotta let God sort that one out.

 | CherrySoda99 (30) 05/26/2005 | Just because babies can't speak for themselves, doesn't mean they deserve to live any less. I could have been aborted, but instead I was adopted. I'm very adament about the topic of abortion. It's something that I feel cannot be justified.

 | jaywilton (26) 05/26/2005 | ...Another example of why I consider myself an-ex liberal..Contemporary liberals are for free choice-with two exceptions. They're against vouchers, which would give poor parents the same opportunities as rich parents, when it comes to alternatives to bad public schools...And ,they are also grossly hypocritical on the abortion vs. capitol punishment issue...I'm a religious Jew who didn't vote for Lieberman because he came out for partial birth abortions...I believe that aside from rape, incest or to save
the mother's life..abortions are basically immoral...On the other hand,assuming DNA backs up a murderer's
conviction...he (or she) should have the possibility to be executed. For anyone who questions whether the death penalty is a deterrant, lets try an experiment:odd days-jail;even days-electric chair. There is no damn reason why Sirhan Sirhan is still around, and abortion is like shopping at a Seven-Eleven.

 | louiethe20th (74) 05/26/2005 | There is no way to justify this,it is very hypocritical.***I don't support murder, but I do support a killer's right to do so and I do support him paying the price for it as well.

 | Jed1000 (72) 05/26/2005 | Supporting someone's right to have an abortion is not the same as being FOR abortion. I'm not for abortion. The very thought of it is sad and tragic. But I think women should have the option under certain circumstances. What those circumstances might be is not for me to decide. That's up to the woman, her conscience, and her doctors. The death penalty, on the other hand, can never be justified.

 | PlanetaryGear (52) 05/26/2005 | I support the death penalty, reserved only for the most heinious of criminals who commit heinious acts of murder and/ or war crimes. No justification is required for abortion so the question then becomes pointless. Good day!
