First Amendment allows one to exercise freedom of speech. Isn't it true that this applies to everyone? Or does it only apply to certain people? A person can boldly speak their mind exalting everything immoral and indecent, and it's called an opinion, but when it comes down to Christians expressing strong beliefs in God and wholesome topics, it's called "preaching" or "cramming religion down one's throat". Something's truly wrong with this picture. Everyone should have a right to say what they believe in. Yes, everyone!

agree. too bad if someone gets offended if I say Merry Christmas or god. i have a right to my beliefs as they have a right to what they believe.

People are getting crucified? Has this ever actually happened in the history of the nation? Has anyone ever been sued for simply uttering "God?" Methinks you're taking this out of context and being quite dishonest about it.

Most Americans are at least nominally Christian-and America without Christianity would be a disaster. Beyond that, Bush, maybe our most religious Christian President, threw the first White House Chanukah party-which is actually a minor Jewish holiday, aside from it's ocurring around Christmas.

Now that I think of it, all of the people I've met who don't celebrate Christmas aren't all that uptight about other people saying Merry Christmas. They don't really care. I'm sure that there are some might throw a hissy fight, but I'm not convinced that that's the majority. I've only seen a few cases where, upon hearing something like Happy Winter Solstice or Happy Holidays, a few people would roll their eyes, but that's few and far between. Most mature people realize that any person who says Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays or whatever seasonal greeting you can think of, is being NICE, they're being polite. I'm not Christian, but do I throw a hissy fit when someone says Merry Christmas to me? Of course not, that would be ridiculous. Once, I was opening the door for a client at work, and I said Merry Christmas; not being Christian, he replied politely Happy Winter Solstice, to which I responded Same to you! I mean, is that really all that hard? If someone tells me God/Allah/etc. bless you, I take it as a compliment, even if I don't share their beliefs. The way I see it, people just need to learn to pick their battles; is this really anything worth arguing about?

Another logical non-sequitur. Some people yeall and scream about how sacrosanct the First Amendment is, and then want to muzzle certain words or expressions. Well, screw them and the horse they rode in on. I'm all for free speech (as the previous sentence should reflect), but the Politicall Correct crowd wants it both ways - they want to be free to say what they want, but not to allow others with whom they disagree to say what they want. God, this whole debate does get tiresome.

Who cares what you call it. Does it really matter? I just take the time off and enjoy it. I don't sit and piss and moan about what my vacation day is called. People who sit and protest stuff like this need to get a life.

It's called 'tolerance of others'. Feel free to leave America when you have no interest in defending the rights of those who don't agree with you. Not everyone has the same idea of a holiday, god, or celebration. You are one insecure follower of God if you get all bent out of shape over the fact that you can't have your philosophy become the way 'for everyone else.' The Taliban felt the same way. . .

I'm going to call it whatever I want. If people don't like it, tough. I don't like the fanatics on either side because both sides take their beliefs way too far.

All persons of all religions should be entitled to use whatever phrase or deity they care to invoke. Except teachers, judges, cops and T.V preachers.
