Wow. I saw the previous post and so dearly wish I'd gotten that kind of treatment. Instead, my requests to show me how to operate something in my relatively new car as well as my numerous requests left via voicemail to please call me back, were all ignored. One of the issues that I brought my car in for was ignored, in fact I was told there was no problem despite everyone else who's been in my car being able to notice it easily. The worst part was their calling to say my car was ready to pick up, my bf going down there to get it only to be told, "woops, we don't have the key," and being sent home with a rental for the weekend -- and then getting a call the next day saying it was ready (again, apparently with key), but now the rental place was closed, so I had to wait 2 more days and go down there again. Then when I did finally get to actually get my car, it has a pretty bad scratch on the door. Are you f-ing kidding me?The service guy said they'll fix it if I bring it down AGAIN a week from today. You're damn skippy I got that in writing, because pardon me for having no trust in people who never called me back, ignored my requests, lost the key to my car, and damaged it while it was in their possession. This place should be shut down.

After six months of trouble-free ownership, my Mazda's radiator fan starting running constantly. Royal told me - twice - that this was completely normal. They were dismissive and seemed to be annoyed I was bothering them with my problem, although they were happy to charge nearly $70 for an oil change. Because something was obviously wrong, I took it to another dealer, where they diagnosed a faulty thermostat. Now my car runs like new, as it should since it only has 12K miles. A few years ago I had a similar experience when the AC on my nearly-new VW failed. Royal Motors is only 5 minutes or so from my home, but they're so incompetent, so dismissive and so unpleasant that I choose instead to drive 30 minutes, cross a bridge and rent a car for day. Royal Motors is a terrible choice for warranty service, and only a fool would use them for services not covered by a warranty.

I've unfortunately been here...more than once :( But, I have always had great experiences wiht the customer service and they don't seem to charge you for things you do not need. I took my car in to have the engine looked at when I noticed the check engine light coming on. They quoted me at $800.00 to fix it, gave me the breakdown of the charges and it ended up costing just that. When I drove it two weeks later I noticed the check engine light came on again :( I was worried they would charge me AGAIN to look at it ( seeing as I'm a single female damsel in distress ) but they didn't! I took it in, they looked at it....cleared a valve they thought was clogged and voila! The check engine light was off and I haven't seen it again since! I do recommend shopping around for somewhere a little cheaper because taking a vehicle to a specialty auto repair shop is almost always more expensive!

Royal motors continues to be the least professional and incompetent service shop I have been to in San Francisco. I needed a tire patch for an XC90 rear tire. The service team immediately recommended a tire replacement. Naturally, they did not have the specific model in stock. They were unable to locate one in the city. Good Year tires to my knowledge are readily available in most tire shops. After having wasted half an hour I took my car to Larkins Bothers. Within 20 minutes the tire was fixed and back on the car. In addition, the Royal Motors representative not only missed his diagnosis, his recommendations were based on his assumption that the car was a four wheel drive which it clearly is not.

I just had my car serviced post-warranty. The mechanic showed my item-by-item what Royal Motors failed to replace over the five years of warranty service this was suppoed to be covered under, including spark plugs, air, and fuel filter.

Hands down, the best service I have ever received for my car. As long as I live in SF, I won't go anywhere else. I found them when my car stereo's alarm accidentally deactivated the stereo. I took it by Royal Motor, and they looked up the security code and disabled the alarm - at no charge. Exceptionally professional, and excellent service. (the parts department sucks however)
