I just wasn't impressed. I'm a huge fan of SG1 and couldn't wait to watch this, but it turns out it's nothing more than a dumbed-down version of the original show. You know the scene in SG1's 200th episode where the cast is made up of teenagers? That's what Atlantis reminds me of. I really wanted to like it, too...

The episode tonight (2/8/09) was the dumbest sci-fi thing I have ever seen. Three people getting out of a hole for an old mining shaft for an hour!!!! Come on now, you have to be able to do better, or did you lose your writers.

A decent way to save/salvage the remaining credibility and awesome concept of Stargate. Stargate SG-1 (predecessor show) in my opinion, could have been extended a few more seasons to really tap the storyline drier. There was still room for characters to grow and storylines to expand. Stargate Atlantis sets the mood for a younger and less experienced group of explorers, against formidable enemies and new races to uncover. My only hope is that before this show ends or gets cancelled, the producers will have thought about and created the next series for Stargate. Maybe in a third galaxy, where the Furlings may be further introduced. Of course, it doesn't hurt to keep SG-1 characters or have them appear on this show to keep a more even flow to the show.

I knew better. Whenever you see something with "Atlantis" in it, you know it's a stinker. I didn't follow my rule. I watched it and got burned!

Worth watching for Torri Higginson.

It seems that atlantis is basically a repeat format to SG-1 with the main character types having the opposite gender with the exception of the O'Neill type character. Franchise needs a new story format in my opinion.

I was prodded into watching this and wasn't expecting to like it--but I did. Good characters and storylines, and interesting villains.

Stargate Atlantis is my favorite sci-fi show. I love the Shep-McKay banter. Teyla is smokin' hawt! Weir is actually interesting now. Who doesn't love Beckett and his accent? I just hope Ronon doesn't fall into the "Ford syndrome." From the spoilers I've read, Season Three sounds promising. I am expecting another great and adventurous season. I love this show!!!

I enjoy it. I just have touble with the way it is scheduled lately. I thought it was in rerun season but came upon a show I had never seen and I don't think it was just one I'd missed. ?????

SGA's first season was enjoyable. There were some problems with character development (Ford and Teyla), but that is to be expected with a show in its first season. Season two looks promising. The new season is right around the corner. I can't wait!

i think that stargate atlantis is boring compared to stargate sg-1. i tried to like it but do not.characters are good but story line is nothing out of the ordinary.startrek next generations is much better than this.

Spin off from Stargate SG-1 this takes place on a very distant plantet where a completly new cast finds the lost city of Atlantis. Atlantis being the mythical city that was once home to the ancients. The new foe is the wraith which exhibit vampire like powers. Maybe not quite as good as the original series but I know it will improve with time.

I guess I am still used to the old cast. It still is good, but I hope they get to see more of the planet and others soon.

This show has potential but there is only one charater I cared for out of the five main ones. The woman who plays Dr. Weir is an excellent actress and has good presence. I think she will make a fine leader. The woman who plays Teyla should go back to acting school. Major John Sheppard is just another flyboy and reminds me too much of Apollo on Battlestar Galactica. Rainbow Sun Francks should go back to hip-hop and being a VJ. He's a throw away character. The Dr. McKay character is OK. I will at least watch the first half season and if it doesn't get better it will be adios! Ktrek

Wow, I really enjoyed this. Does not seem to be a carbon copy of Stargate SG1 and the new villians introduced are some creepy, scary characters.
