I really dont like Ina and her show. Her recipes are just not friendly toward the average American. I mean who has the time or money to make these recipes with fancy ingredients. I'm sure they taste good but personally i dont have the founds to cook whats on her show. And also she goes around like she's all high and mighty, ok we get it you have money!!

The food she makes is high in sugar and fat. If you eat this way, you will get really fat. This is not realistic cooking, she uses too many ingredients, and spends too much time on her food. i dont personally know anyone who has the desire nor the time to cook this way. Too much sugar, and butter and fatty stuff is used..

I like her because she makes me feel better about my life. She is a tank and you can see why when she uses a pound of butter in every recipe. So if I ate only half a pound that day I feel health conscious lol ...Her husband is mentally challenged and he friends are SO gay that she seems like the manliest person in the whole show. It is funny. Unintentionally. Entertainment is entertainment.
anniecat 01/04/2009
hate her superior attitude, her gay friends, her yucky husband, her fake laugh---she's soooo smug!!!
MissPackRat4Je sus 11/10/2008
No offense, but Ina Garten's presentation is a little bit dry.
twopies 09/14/2008
best cooking show on tv. ina's philosophy is to use the freshest ingredients in the simplest ways, making her recipes delish! can't get enough of her!
TonkaCrew3 09/01/2008
It seems sad that as a society we can either tear to shredds or put on a pedestal someone who is trying to bring us some education about what we may or may not know anything about (food & cooking/baking). Ina Garten is a person just like us all. To use name calling and jabs at her character (which in reality we know nothing about)is useless and incredibly hurtful. Don't you think that we should just stick to rating her food and show as a whole? I do. At least this way she would be spared pain if she were to read these reviews.

I don't like the Contessa at all. I did try and watch her show to give it the benefit of the doubt but there's just something about her that really bugs me. Maybe its the fact that she always wears that jean smock with the collar up.
1dragontat 06/25/2007
Shes ok but she tends to constintly remind us that she lives in the hamptons. And whats with all the gay guys on the show are all guys that live in the hamptons gay.
Karoshi 05/31/2007
Let's face it: Ina is a hard headed businesswoman, a latter day Joan Crawford in size XXX. That soothing voice other posters have mentioned is the same that demands $10 for a box of brownie mix,...and YOU add the eggs! This is the person who, as landlady, kicked out her former employees who had purchased the Barefoot Contessa shop from her. Way to go Ina! As you tool around the Hamptons in your convertible BMW, kimono flapping in the breeze, does it ever occur to you how your actions have hurt other people?
CandieSamples 05/11/2007
I love her nervous laughter and the way she takes small bird bites like she never eats. Who is this person kidding - she is as big as a whale. She is fat, pretentious and boring.
monnie 02/24/2007
I think this is a pretty good show, yes Ina has her annoying moments and her "I'm the queen of the world attitude" but she does share some pretty good tips. I think that she somewhat ignores healthy eating, which can explain why she is the size that she is. Shes never skimpy with the excessive amounts of butter, and oil, heavy cream, and mayo and the endless amounts of sugar. Not for the average health conscious person!

Great show! Never trust a skinny cook. This woman makes real food -- it looks great -- not too hard to make, and I think she enjoys it and life too!
jimorama 06/12/2006
I dont know..i look at this fat pig driving around in a black Mercedes with this heir of "I am the queen" attitude. Her friends strike me as these banal Ken and Barbie trust-funders. She typifies the group that hangs out there...to be seen. Why would I ever leave NYC to hang out with other people from NYC and do the same hyper-socializing that I do in the city? Ever wonder what is wrong with the Hamptons? Ina is exhibit A...its all money.
pappion66 02/16/2006
Ina is great. Barefoot Contessa was one of the first cook books I ever bought. The food she prepares on her show translates well in the everyday person's kitchen.
jaipurblue 02/15/2006
Ina is terrfic! Her recipes are first-rate and you can trust that they will turn-out well. I just wish that the Food Network would do some new shows with her.
davidspeaks 12/09/2005
nasty pig. she is gross.
taradyan 12/04/2005
I completely detest this pretentious broad. She's a snobby, chunky elitist whose friends are as banal as she is. Also, the average American wouldn't have the time or resources to make the pretentious dishes she makes on her show. Yeah ... we're all real impressed that you studied in Paris, Ina. Not!!
Katina Smith 11/10/2005
Ina is wonderful!!! I love her show, she seems to be a wonderful cook,(Love that garden of hers) Ms. Katina Smith
missnoitall 09/28/2005
Ina is the real deal. Love her recipies and so does my family. AND she wears red lipstick so she scores big points right there! Go Ina.
lovingtherealw orld92 08/16/2005
Some of her cooking is ok, but if you don't like fancy food from paris i would not watch her!
rjy 08/11/2005
A good show to watch and Ina usually cooks something good.
PopMuse 07/05/2005
PopMuse.com says: Ina is the queen of the Food Network, and Rachel Ray is the Princess. PopMuse wants to live in Ina world with all her rich gay friends, and lovely get togethers!
Pasta10 06/03/2005
Ina is cool. I love her house, her gardens, and her cookware. She has an incredibly soothing voice, and gives excellent cooking tips. Quality show.
Rant 06/01/2005
Ina is a great cook and a professional. She has great ideas and shows how to make the complicated simple.
Graymalkin 05/10/2005
Ina exudes grace and class in her easygoing manner. The camera beautifully captures the lush East Hampton countryside, her wonderfully prepared foods and her gracious smile.
askmeiknow 05/07/2005
Love her. great food, great choices, lovely women. I've been to her shop in East hampton (no longer there) She is one of the few I can watch on the channel. She can cook for me anyday.
FightingIllini 45 04/16/2005
I hate the way she talks, and when something looks good, she does this weird thing w/ her voice. It's so annoying. Like, who has the time to cook three gourmet, or so she calls it, meals every single day. Besides, what audience is she trying to get? Most common people don't even like that gourmet, crud.
kattwoman 04/02/2005
i like her shes soothing to watch because she seems to genuinly care about her guests and the planning she does to pull it off
tocwelsh 01/17/2005
This lady goes right through me, her voice, her snobby attitude, her zero personality, her awful cooking, and last not least those boring guests she invites to her chateau, looking at each other as they charge their mouths with sloppy food and roll their eyes....oh my goodness gracious me!!!!!!
altamonte 12/19/2004
Disturbingly pretentious. It's easy to appear at ease when you are just tossing slop together, like gorgonzola cheese. She brays like a horse whenever guests arrive for the party as if to make it appear that she is the hit of the party. In truth this barefoot contessa is very uncomfortable in her trappings of wealth and doesn't seem to know how to prove that she is good enough for the better off set. I find the program very difficult and uncomfortable to watch, fancy cars and kitchens and all, and the recipes are very putrid looking.
reubix 12/14/2004
she is a martha wanna be.
Majibb 10/20/2004
What better to bring in someone who has zero personality. Good job, Food Network, you're sure to have more ratings than ever. @_@ Most boring show ever, put her on as a voiceover on the History Channel, and I'll fall asleep twice as fast.
duckie067 08/26/2004
A very enjoyable program to watch! Ina makes gourmet cooking look so easy!
Im so not a Lulu 07/25/2004
I agree with the poster below, Ina just seems like a genuinely nice person to be in the kitchen with. Her recipes are actually rather simple but very, very stylish in the way she prepares them. I also have to agree she needs to mix up her side dishes a bit, but I still enjoy watching her.
jakeev 07/16/2004
I can't think of any other cook on the Food Network other than Paula Deen that makes you feel like you could be watching your mom cooking than Ina Garten aka The Barefoot Contessa. She is so at ease in her cooking and remind me a lot of how my own mom was in the kitchen: stylish and fun. The only little blip I have with the show is sometimes she tends to use the same side dishes with certain menus, and not that it's boring, but kinda like to see her be a little more different. Either way she is one class act on the Food Network.
