The Nicene Creed is quite impressive. It's only about a page long, yet it sums up everything pretty well. All the core beliefs are covered.

The Nicene Creed is indeed a valid statement of the Christian Faith. Yet, no statements or creed makes a person a Christian. Believing in Jesus Christ, that He is God the Son, who came down to Earth to die for the sins of the world and become the only way to the Father (Heaven) and following His teachings and obeying His commandments is what makes a person a Christian.

The Council of Nicaea in 325 outlined the basic doctrine of the Christian faith and laid it out in this creed. Those who do not subscribe to this Creed frankly are not Christians.

I believe the Nicene Creed and the shorter Apostle's creed to be accurate statements of the core beliefs of Christianity.

To give you an idea of the content of the Nicene Creed, it basically says some major beliefs of the council of Nicea (something like that) in the 4th century. It says things like that there is only one God, Jesus is fully God and sprang from the Father, Jesus is needed for eternal salvation, they believe in the Holy Ghost and worship Him as being God, and that Jesus ascended into Heaven according to Scripture and will return again in glory to judge the earth. All that is wonderful and is the full truth and a full representation of the Christian faith. But there is one point where the Nicene Creed is off. The last point said something like 'We believe the Catholic and Apostolic church to be one church and baptism is needed for the remission of sins' (not the exact words). That is the barb in the truth. So in all, yes, except for the last point, the Nicene Creed does represent what Christians believe.
