Here we have one of the major disputes that has divided Christianity for about 1500 years. The Holy Spirit proceeds from the Godhead to deliver grace to mankind. Since the Godhead is a Trinity, then the philosophers considered from whom does the Holy Spirit actually proceed? The simple answer seems to be both the Father and the Son, but the theological problem arose with the question as to how the Trinity acts. The Greeks considered the Trinity to be in a straight line, and the Latins considered the Trinity to be in a triangle. The Greeks believed, therefore that the Holy Spirit proceeded from the Father through the Son along that straight line. The Latins knew that this could not be as the Trinity is a triangle, and the Holy Spirit must proceed from the Father AND the Son. The Council of Nicaea in 325 AD essentially adopted the straight line theory, but as the centuries rolled on, the Triangle Theory gained strength in the West. Eventually the East became straight line, the West triangle, and the great split between the Orthodox and the Catholics in 1054 AD, in large part, came from this difference. The Protestants adopted the Catholic view and therefore the Protestant view of the Trinity is the Triangle and the double procession although I doubt that most of the fundie goobers bawling into their microphones in their school auditorium churches know the difference. After all, "If it ain't in the Bible, it don't exist."

Does the Son proceeds from the Father, or the Holy Spirit? Dose the father proceeds from the Son or the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is one of the three persons of the Trinity and is God.

None derive from another. The conundrum: Father, Son, Holy Spirit as one indivisible, Divine Being - one God in three distinct Persons. The Son Himself with two natures: one divine and the other one human. As a Mystery is supposed to go, what's not to understand?

I'm not sure if I understand the question. The Holy Spirit was sent as a comforter to the earth following Christs ascension to Heaven after his resurrection. The Holy Spirit, Jesus and God are all God. All part of the Trinity, not 3 Gods, only 1 God and the one and only God.

I see the Holy Spirit as God living within us, whispering His will to us and giving us the strength of character to carry it out when we decide to listen.

Yes He does. He doesn't just proceed from the Father, yet He is not totally Jesus. The Spirit doesn't proceed from Jesus because it is the Father who makes the decisions in the Godhead, so the Spirit proceeds from the Father, yet He is also described as being the Spirit of Jesus (Christ). The Spirit can be described as both, the Spirit of the Father and the Spirit of Christ. How is this so? I believe the verse in 1Corinthians 2:11 tells us the answer. This verse says, 'For who among men knows the thoughts of the man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.' This shows us that the Father is fully God, Jesus is fully God and the Spirit is the Spirit of both the Father and Jesus. This is a complex concept but the Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit are one Being, not three separate beings. God is a Spiritual Person and the best way to describe Him in a way we can understand is like the human body. The Father is like the mind of that body, Jesus is like the physical part of the body you see eg the skin, arms and legs and the Holy Spirit is like the Spirit of that body.
