I slow down for tailgaters.
If safe, I move right for those who flash lights from a safe distance.

Brake check! UPDATE: Company van, no speeding...
trebon1038 03/19/2007
This one pretty much gets me because I am not a slow driver. I normally drive anywhere from the speed limit to about 10 miles over it (shamelessly if on a nice stretch of road with a lower limit, maybe more than 10 miles over the speed limit..tisk tisk) Therefore if someone is tailgaiting me.....they are wanting to drive for a nascar team.

Who are they, Mad Max ? This isn't a post apocalyptic future, and you're not a leather clad, motorcycle punk!
Aaron_Arrrgh 09/29/2005
This doesn't annoy me unless they tailgate me for a really long distance. If that happens, I always give them a nice brake check to keep 'em honest.
Mad Hatter 09/29/2005
I usually give them a little brake check, just to let them know I care.
kattwoman 09/29/2005
they realize quite quickly that this actually forces me to drive slower.
texasyankee 06/03/2005
Not sure about the rating. Tailgating gets my goat, but they never make me go faster hehe I love irking the hell out of them by maintaining the speedlimit. (70-75 in Texas; isn't exactly slow)
TJGypsy2 06/02/2005
Doesn't usually bother me, I tend to just ignore them, but occasionally it's just downright dangerous, and almost always stupid. I'm with the Mad Hatter on this one. Give a tap or two on the brakes, and see how far they back off.

I think this is the biggest problem on the roads today. Never mind the guy doing 10 over the limit, I want the cops to go after THESE guys. The shear stupidity of this behaviour, and the cowardice of some of the perpetrators guarantees them a top spot on my sh#tlist....1 car length for evey 10 mph! Why is this hard to understand?... Yeah, this definetely gets my goat!

I'd be lying if I said I've never tailgated. When it's just me and the person in front of me on the road (with no passing lane) and the person is going under the speed limit I will probably tailgate and if that doesn't work beep. (I'm very impatient what can I say). What i really dislike is when people tailgate because that is simply the way they drive, they don't want you to go faster they just don't understand the concept of safe distance.

Kamy and I must be driving on the same road because I go through that same problem constantly. I won't pretend to be a saint that drives within the speed limit because most of the time I'm over it. But I really can't do anything if I have a school bus or slow moving Winnebago (talk about a redundancy) in front of me. Typically almost always occurs when two lanes on both sides of me are open.

As a rule I drive too fast to be tailgated.. and that's not a boast. It's more like an admission of guilt. On the occasions when I am tailgated I take myself out of the drama by flipping my rearview mirror away so that I don't have to see them. I figure what happens after that is on their heads and not mine. I know it's a stupid and dangerous thing to do but there it is. (That's one of the benefits of RIA. I can admit to childish and stupid behavior without suffering any legal consequences.)

(2=irritates me more than it should) What I don't get is when they're tailgaiting me when there's like three cars ahead of me going really slow. Do they think I can drive faster than the people in front of me or something? How does THAT work? Or, when the other lane's wide open, but they refuse to pass. I usually ease off the gas or keep pace with a slower person in the other lane just to tick them off.

Oh, this is one of my personal favorites! If you want to slow to 25 miles per - especially if there happen to be icy road conditions - then just try this with me. If you anger easily you will explode after about 10 miles of this - maybe less if you catch my grin in the rearview mirror.
