obviously the Aussies once again have shown their ignorance, but what else would one expect? i seriously doubt that this inidvidual has ever come across an American Bulldog to say that it has killed more kids and terrorized the elderly is ridiculous. i have owned American Pit Bull Terriers and American Bulldogs my entire life, i grew up with them. the only dog i have ever owned that attacked or bit anyone was a QUEENSLAND HEELER! stick to your "clever" little brittney spaniels and keep your dog bans in your own country aussie. American Bulldogs are no more a danger to society than ignorant aussies with worthless opinions and bogus statistics.the blue heeler i had bit 3 kids unprovoked i witnessed 2 of these. do i think the dogs should be banned? of course not, mine was unsocialized before she came to work with me on the ranch. how many American Bulldog attacks have you witnessed? Zero? i thought so.stay in australlia or go back, perhaps we can use the reject stamp on your forehead.

One of the most loyal, athletic, and good natured dogs you can find; given you buy from a good breeder and from quality lines.  There are 3 types of American Bulldogs; the Bully or Johnson, the Standard/Scott, and the Hybrid/Performance.  The Bully/Johnson type are huge and bulky, most weight around or over 100 lbs.  Many are looking more and more like giant English Bulldogs which isn't doing the breed in favors.  This type of American Bulldog also have nerve issues and dog aggressive issues.  That is NOT to say that all Johnson bred dogs are like this.  The Standard/Scott is the more athletic and "truer" type American Bulldog.  They were bred as a farm utility and working dog.  They are smaller and very athletic mostly around 55-70 lbs.  They have very few issues with temperement towards people or other dogs.  The performance type AB is a mixture of the larger Johnson type and the Standard types. It is a dog bred to have the athletic ability and temperment of the Standard type with more of the Johnson size.  AB's are NOT a breed for everyone.  They need to learn the pack order and obidience at an early age and need to have a job to do.  They excell as weight pull dogs, protection sport dogs, service and therapy dogs, working catch dogs for large game, agility, really anything that requires them to be active.  Hip and skin problems do pop up in the breed but there are many breeders that are making it a point to try and correct these problems.  As a breeder and trainer of American Bulldogs, I have found it disturbing that it is becomming more and more popular.  We all know what happens when something becomes popular; it becomes over-bred and messed up by people that have no clue what to look for in breeding stock and really only want to turn a buck.  This is a working breed and can be a super family dog but it is not a breed that a lot of people can handle.  I hate to see any breed gain popularity because people try to turn it into something for everyone and along the way we loose the true character of the breed.  I do not want to see this happen with my breed.  Another thing that hurts this breed is everyone thinks that they are Pit Bulls.  They are not.  Now, I LOVE Pit Bulls (the very best family dog there is-but not for everyone), but an AB is not a Pit.  95% of people do not know a Boxer from a Boston Terrier so it's no wonder that people think that AB's are Pits.  I have a Therapy Dog International certified American Bulldog!  She is wonderful and everyone at the nursing homes love her.  She is one of the most requested dogs at the place.

can be stubborn, hard to train and have many problems. Make sure you get from a good breeder with a track record, get referrals. Not the dog for some people, do your homework first.
