Glorified zombies who exhibit two shining signs of cult mentality: (1) real interest/obsession with the control of the sexuality of too-young women and (2) real clutches on the money of the practictioners. But cult-like evangelicals taking shots at Mormonism is like watching a special olympics participant call everyone else slow. . .

Mormons claim to be monotheists, but more probably are henotheists, that is people who believe in a god but acknowledge the existence of other gods. The theological problem exists within the Mormon view of the Trinity. The Mormons consider each person of the Trinity as a distinct god. The Christian view is one god with three persons. The Mormon problem is that Joseph Smith was a theological incompetent and was not able to handle the philosophical niceties about Christianity that the Greeks figured out in the first four centuries of the Church.

I have my own feelings on this issue, however, there is only one Judge.

The thought is a tad bit sketchy to me...

Of greater interest to me is the question of why the topic "Christian Issuses and Debates" is under a heading "Religion & Military"? Is there some obvious linkage between the two very broad subject areas that I should be aware of?

No, and it is because they deny the bodily resurrection of Jesus from the dead and they preach another gospel all together that does not base salvation on Jesus. Their Jesus is brothers with the devil and their god was once a man that became a god. Josheph Smith was a freemason that loved the secret rituals of the masonic lodge and claimed that Mormonism was a restoration of Christianity and later Free Masonry. He made up a book called the book of Mormon, actually he had a guy named Alexander Solomon write most of it for him. He practiced sorcery and made many false prophecies such as their being men on the Sun. I know that kwhyman says that polygamy is prohibited in the Mosaic law code, but that is not true, but the Mormons have plenty of bad teachings. Another one is the belief that they are becoming gods and will create other worlds that they will be gods over. They really do not teach salvation by Jesus or the cross, but rather, by being baptized in their tank and going through their Temple rituals. They also teach three rungs of heaven and hell is only for the very wicked. If they put their faith in Jesus Christ for their salvation instead of all of this other stuff then they will be Christians, but you cannot deny the bodily resurrection and preach a different Jesus altogeter and be Christian.

I do not count the members of the LDS Church as part of the Body of Christ, because several of their teachings run contrary to both the Old and New Testements. Here is one example. Officially, the LDS Church may have "renounced" their belief that polygamy is permitted, but it still is a founding tenet of LDS theology, and runs contrary to the Mosaic law code set down in the Old Testement. Christ says very plainly in the Gospels that He came "not to destroy the Law, but to fulfill it." That says to me that the Law is still in force, and any group that throws it out is not part of the Body. The Law may not condemn us under the old Davidic covenant, but it is still the guide to how to live under the Messianic covenant.

The best way to define that sort of thing is to ask them if they're Christian or not. Otherwise there's too many pointless arguments and arbitrary definitions.

From what I've heard of them and their beliefs, they are not real Christians, although they claim to be. For a start, they don't believe in salvation by grace and secondly, they believe in having more then one partner and have weird rituals.

Sure the morons are.
Jar-Jar Binks 06/02/2005
Nope. They're polygamists who ride their bikes and wearing short-sleeve dress shirts. Avoid these morons as possible.
