I can see the poster "Leonard/De La Hoya - Pretty Boy Smackdown". It would have been a rare case of title fight that pitted real boxers against each other instead of a boxer vs. a hitter, or a boxer vs. a street fighter, or a hitter vs. guloot.

A fight between Sugar Ray Leonard and Oscar De La Hoya would have been fairly competitive at any level. But the results would have been the same in that Sugar Ray would have won each time. Not that De La Hoya isn't bright or able, but Leonard was (and will always be) a notch above him in all categories. Sugar Ray was a fighter with a tremendous heart and a knack for the dramatic. And fighting in the glamour divisions of the 1980s rife with arguably the top notch fighters of any era in boxing made Sugar Ray one of the greatest of all-time. Stylish and brash, Sugar Ray was the showman with uncanny ring-generalship. In a potential dream fight, both would have had to assert themselves over the other to have the early advantage. However, with Sugar Ray's ability to counter and frustrate De La Hoya (like in De La Hoya's first fight with Mosley), the fight could easily result in a lop-sided decision.
