For a New York Jewboy (and spare me the hysteria, that's how he describes himself at times) he has played some bad ass Mexican killers (Tuco in the Good the Bad and the Ugly and Calvera in the Magnificent Seven) plus many other brilliant characters. He is almost never the star, but the guy can fucking act. The Two Jakes, Cinderella Liberty, Little Italy and even an intense cameo in Mystic River are among his best.

Always good in every role. Most memorable for me in "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly". Seemed to always give his all in any role.

He is a giant. He started out in "Babydoll" in 1956. I liked him as Calavera in "Magnificent Seven." His most famous role was "Tuco" in the "Good, Bad, and the Ugly." He was rarely in the leading role, but great nevertheless.
