You know, this and some of the other cracks from the past that came back to haunt him really made me wonder about the possibility of the existance of selective dementia. Ginko JK - what can it hurt to give it a shot?

I think that Kerry's interjection of Vietnam into the campaign was a useless political ploy that backfired on him completely. He should have listened to his own words and ran a campaign based on the issues that were relevant in 2004, not in 1968. Had he done this, Bush wouldn't have changed the topic with this issue, Kerry would have been able to score points on Bush's political weakness and who knows, he might have actually won. If not, he would have been in a strong position to make a second run. Now he's a has been.

Sometimes you make a public statement, which you really don't believe, and it comes back to bite you in the a$$ a dozen years later. Pat Riot, you must have missed Thursday night of the Democratic National Convention. There was no other topic. Period. It became a campaign issue that night, his entire candidacy appeared to be about his brief assignment in Vietnam, or did you miss the beginning of his acceptance speech? He made it clear that his primary qualification for running was his war hero status . . . and the rest is Dan Rather, Michael Moore and the Swift Boat Vets.

Wasn't this the foundation of his qualifications? Three purple hearts, two shrunken nads, and an early exit from 'Nam! (sing it with me!)

Uh, isn't he the one who inserted Viet Nam every chance he got, lol.

I am saddened by the fact that Vietnam has yet again been inserted into the campaign. The race for the White House should be about leadership, and leadership requires that one help heal the wounds of Vietnam, not reopen them. The country should not be divided over who served and how. -- Until he ran for president, when every fifth word was Vietnam.
