Not surprising to see this kind of political posturing from Perry. I suppose the illiterates who voted for the gay marriage ban should have read that law more carefully because it effectively ended ALL marriages performed in Texas. Karma is a bitch, dumbass!

I think that parents should be informed when their kid goes in for an abortion. for a lot of reasons. As for the latter part of this item, I am a little confused as to what happened. Are gays not allowed to get married in church? But they can get married elsewhere? Or did he sign this bill in a church? I had not heard about this in the news and just need some clarification on what happened.

A minor is required to have parental consent for a Doctor to work on an ingrown toenail, but 14 year olds should be able to bop into the abortion clinic anytime they want- none of the parents biz. Yet another illustration of the insanity that constitutes the left in the USA.

No, but I don't pay attention to anything Rick "pinko" Perry does. He may be the worst governor Texas has ever had next to George W. Bush.

What's with the strange wording? Of course it's 'appropriate' for someone to voice his or her opinion. . .but the bizarre multi-listing thesis-of-gargantuan-proportions should be limited. Of course parents should be involved and of course those who legistlate (or wish for) anti-gay laws are closet freedom-hating homos themselves or Communists who would make great third-world dictators. . .

Yes, generally governors sign (or veto) legislation which has been debated and voted on by the duly elected state legislatures. There is overwhelming popular support, particularly in Texas, but also in many other places, for these two initiatives. I find his behavior appropriate.

It's all politics. Some treat it as a higher calling, but when you actually work at the ground level you see politics for what it is, and that of course is winning elections. That's how democracy works, for better or worse. In Perry's case, he's trying to appeal to his conservative base in light of the GOP primary race he faces next year. The gay marriage ban is redundant, for there is a law similar to that in the book at the federal level and the parental consent law, while it is good public policy, is being signed just in time for next year's election. Nothing more and nothing less.

YES, this is finally the right behavior from a public official. I wish I lived in Texas just so I could vote for him!

It's a free country and he has to face the voters. He is accountable and the voter will so determine the answer to this question.
