Whether one loves or hates "Seinfeld", this series was clearly one of the definitive shows of the 90's. I personally watched this "show about nothing" from the beginning and remember eagerly awaiting its start after seeing the promos. The first half of its run was clearly the best, as the plotlines didn't center so much around George (Jason Alexander) and Kramer (Michael Richards) wasn't so over the top. Also, I liked the original concept of injecting clips of Seinfeld's stand-up routine to show how real-life events inspired his comedy. Nevertheless, the show remained better than most of the competition during it's second half until the horrid and extremely disappointing finale. The bottom line is that "Seinfeld" serves as a quality common viewing experience for many Americans, as evidenced by so many terms and phrases that are now part of the popular lexicon (e.g. "not that there's anything wrong with that" and "sponge worthy").

I liked it better in the re-runs. Maybe the bad shows were cut out. I don't see many of the clunkers of the first season when George had more hair.

Overated

great show. good casting, all four actors work well together. funny episodes, some really hilarious. interesting that four basically unlikable characters can make a show work and be funny.

Great fun, very funny and cutting edge, although JLD drives me crazy now, how did she win an emmy now, most of the shows she has done since Seinfeld are boring or stupid.

seinfeld will always be considered one of the best. it had talented cast with memorable characters. i didn't care for the ending though it just wasn't up to par with all the previous shows.
