 | abichara (62) 01/04/2006 | The revelation of who was "deep throat" was mostly anti-climatic, being that it was far removed from the Watergate era. Perhaps if Mark Felt's identity had been revealed earlier, it may have been a more significant story. Actually many suspected that the whistleblower came from the FBI, which was weakened under the Nixon Administration.

 | EschewObfuscation (65) 06/20/2005 | If only it were true, it would be a big story, for liberals and Nixon-haters of all stripes with 30-year staying power. Deep Throat divulged many facts about things that Felt could never have known anything about as an Assoc Director of the FBI. That is why he was discounted early as the guy. The most logical theory is that DT was a literary conglomeration of at least 4 cowardly people, whom Woodward and Bernstein utilized under an agreement to keep their secrets, but that Felt's family needed a payday. I believe that Felt believes himself to be the only such source. But, you don't have to read All The President's Men too thoroughly to find a half-dozen things that DT revealed which Felt had no knowledge of until the movie was released. It's hatred-fodder for staunch Nixon haters, who will buy the upcoming book(s) and watch the TV specials for the same reason that Hillary Clinton is a best-selling author.

 | James76255 (17) 06/18/2005 | Pretty neat that the name was revealed, but rather anti-climatic. Maybe it would have meant more if Felt hadn't been convicted of the same thing he was informing about seven years later.
