The steroids controversy has been way overblown by the American media. This is not a story that directly involves many people in this country, but the public is made to believe that a few professional atheletes using illegal supplements or drugs will ruin sports or negatively influence children. In a competitive environment such as athletics, there will always be people who cut corners to gain an advantage.

Duuh ! Like anybody with two brain cells to rub together can't tell just by looking at todays baseball players (who look more like pro-wrestlers or football players and almost ALL are using roids,no matter what they say or supposedly test for!) Boy,are the masses good at living in DENIAL lately....

As a sports story, maybe a 3. As a Major League Baseball story, maybe a 4. As a news story, one and a half. Leno had a great line: yeah, and if Barry Bonds gets caught using steroids, they're gonna suspend Alex Sanchez for a month next time . . .

Not very significant since I think we all assumed it was going on anyway.

You can't fathom how shocked, shocked, I was to hear about this.

Pretty big deal if you are a baseball fan, but really only confirms what a lot of people assumed already. Since it came out and the rules have changed, a handful of no names have gotten introuble for steroids, but nothing major. If Bonds weren't sitting out? Who knows?
