Keeping American forces in Iraq indefinetely would be a disaster. It would play right into the hands of the enemy, giving them a perpetual training ground for tens of thousands of terrorists who can spread themselves throughout the world. It would break the back of the American military, drain trillions of dollars from our resources (already its up to 1/3 trillion), and cause the deaths of probably tens of thousands of Americans. We have kept forces in Iraq for three years, and each year the situation on the ground has become worse. What makes anyone think that another three years of fighting this guerilla war will not produce the same results?

Sometimes this does have positive outcomes- when I spent time at the bases in South Korea and Germany I certainly felt that one can make a logical argument for a militaristic presence in those areas. But the Middle East is a different animal and continued military presence will end, in one way or another, badly for us. Imagining the spread of democracy by the use of an occupying military force is nothing short of a Christianized wet-dream of those who have never travelled outside of their own country. Muslims in the Middle East feel cheated, impoverished, and threatened by what they see as a geopolitical pro-Christian, anti-Muslim move. An occupying force will feed terrorism instead of threatening it.

This is the proper strategy. All anyone alive today has ever seen is the majority of the Middle East misbehaving. "Democracy" and "civil liberties" are terms that almost don't translate into their languages. As a little boy, I used to see photos in Life magazine of Palestinian children hurling stones at Israeli tanks and troops. As a middle aged man, I commonly see photos on internet news sites of Palestinian children hurling stones at Israeli tanks and troops. I don't want to be doing this when I'm holding up the corner in a retirement home. It is time to set the moral relativism, political correctness and other BS aside. Our way of life is better than theirs. Our values are superior as are our practices. Their dictatorships, torture of political dissidents, oppression of women and government controlled news aren't "different" or "alternative." These things are "wrong" and inferior to how we do things. The Islamic world has had substantial time to clean its act up. It hasn't. And now, many radical Middle Easterners feel free to spill the blood of Westerners because we make their way of life difficult. It is time to impose the rule of our laws on them. America is currently an unchallenged superpower. This situation will not last much longer. One of our lasting contributions should be dragging the Muslim world into the 21st century. Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran. Take them and keep them. Forget attempting to coax a pack of savages into forming Democratic governments. It won't happen and it won't work (for at least two generations). The above-listed countries should be United States controlled territories. Think Puerto Rico with crude oil.

This should not happen. The last thing more people need to realize is that Iraq's democracy is now a somewhat mild puppet. If America stays indefinitely IN FORCE, resistance grows indefinitely.

That's not a good idea because there are a lot of sexy Iraqi singles who aren't gonna like it.

That is whats going to happen, regardless of what anyone has to say about it. They are building bases over there right now. Makes sense, close bases here, build them over there, absolutely genius!
