 | Aurielle (18) 01/17/2006 | At work. He is the security guy -- and we hated each other. For no apparent reason, really, we just glared at each other all the time and made barbed comments. Eventually, the barbs turned into another kind of tension and we've now started going out. It's like one of those romance book, hate/love relationships.

 | Rhapsody22 (12) 01/17/2006 | Technically we met when we were two years old and as is custom for small towns, we ended up high school sweethearts and beyond. I was very lucky to meet the one for me so early on.

 | BlueOrchid (43) 01/17/2006 | I was sitting in the computer commons with my ex-boyfriend and he saw a guy he recognized (Numbah) so he greeted him. Behind him I saw this quiet tall guy (Mad Hatter) and I didn't even think of talking to at all because I just dismissed him as being another acquaintance.
Later that day the four of us probably went to the cafeteria to chat before Numbah and Hatter had class. Hatter and I would occasionally play what I like to call "eye tennis." He'd look over at me, I'd look over at him just as he looked away, and vice versa.
He got me giggly when he asked me if I wanted to hang out sometime.
@ Hatter: If you're lucky to find me than I guess I'm the unlucky one. Hehe. No, I keed. I keed.

 | Mad Hatter (38) 01/17/2006 | The game of Eye Tennis!!! I remember that day. Being a shy guy, I didn't know how to ask her out. I decided to give her my number, and asked if she wanted to go out sometime. Four hours later, she called me. I still wonder how I got so lucky to find someone like her!

 | FranksWildYears (58) 01/04/2006 | Her older sister dated and married a friend of mine. I was 19 and she was 13 when we met and I never really paid much attention to her, although I'll admit that I thought she was cute at the time. Around 8 years later I began working in the small town where she lived. By then the age difference wasn't such an issue, which was fortunate for me because I found her insanely hot.

 | hotel283 (20) 10/31/2005 | I was dragged to a Christmas party I didn't want to go to. I only went on the condition that I could "dress like a slob." I walked into the bar and saw my future sweetie sitting at the bar not looking at all impressed. I walked up to her and said, "You should be happier." She looked puzzled and asked why and I said, "Because your the best looking woman here." Despite the cheese factor of that line, we've been together for three years now.

 | Solenoid DH (20) 09/01/2005 | I don't have a significant other. I have a wife - the female kind. I had heard good things about her and wanted to meet her for a long time, so I got a mutual friend to invite us both over to dinner so we could be formally introduced. Said friend decided to feed us tacos, and every time we took a bite of food, it sounded like glass breaking. Not only that, but another friend had invited me to play golf with him that afternoon and I was severely sunburned. I was wearing green clothes, and I looked like a human Christmas tree or something. It was a rather uneasy start, but 2 years later we were married. (significant other.....sheesh!)

 | Mr.Political (20) 08/31/2005 | Oh God...we met at an abortion rally. I was always (and still am to some degree) a somewhat shy and reclusive person so I tended to hesitate before going out on a date and getting into a relationship with someone. But the environment was so energized that I asked her out for lunch after the rally and she said, and I quote, sure, why the hell not? It may not have been the most romantic of beginnings, I'll grant you, but whatever works...

 | SZinHonshu (45) 08/31/2005 | June 5, 1999, in a very crowded night club overseas. We danced in jammed and noisy confines until (literally) the sun came up. I was about 5 steps away from the door before I decided I should really go back and get her phone number. It was the intervening hand of God. He was taking care of me.

We were married several months later and are still happily married.

 | texasyankee (22) 06/23/2005 | In a job we both had, funny thing was that I thought he was disgusting because he was fresh out of jail, long hair and was dressed in tan slacks, and back then, tan slacks were just weird.

 | dpostoskie (7) 06/22/2005 | My wife and I met at a childrens birthday party but got to know each other while working in the same company. I admired her abilities at work and her love for children in general. We developed a relationship after leaving the company. Today we are the strongest couple I know and have the least amount of stress Ive ever encountered or known of, even with 5 children. Our family is the most important thing and we have consistently moved in the same direction.

 | kamylienne (80) 06/21/2005 | If he didn't answer my pen pal ad online, then we would have met by mutual friends on the same day, anyway. I don't know if I believe in fate, but that's pretty weird.

 | souljunkie (21) 06/21/2005 | She was a friend of a gal that was my lead guitar players secretary at the time. They came to one of my shows as a group. While I was breaking down after the last set, we began to chat, I mentioned that a big strong vodka drink would taste real good right now and before I could dig in my pocket she was walking towards the bar asking me what I wanted. I said you dont have to do that and she replied very strongly I know I dont have to do anything, but Id like to get you a drink, whataya want?. I said a vodka, cranberry and Ive been with her every day since that evening 7 years ago August 18th. Shes kept me in line ever since.

 | Tweazer (11) 06/21/2005 | At the Howdy Dance the first week of college. We'd seen each other in the dorm lobby but hadn't talked. (Actuall,y we'd locked eyes on each other but tried not to act like it) I didn't know it at the time, but at the dance, he had two dates there. He had one on one side of the dance floor and the other on the opposite side. I grabbed him in the middle of the dance floor and said, Hey, I wanna dance with you. He stuttered and looked around and finally said OK. This September 25 will be 30 years since that day and we are still together and more in love than ever.
