If this happens to you, immediately adopt your own smug aggandizing attitude and sling it right back--fight fire with fire in circumstances like this.

yes they are annoying with all of their facts they think they know. I try not to let them suck me in. I once read that you should not bother trying to argue with a know it all because they refuse to see any other side of a view since they consider themselves an expert on everything. I wonder if they realize that most people roll their eyes and them and do NOT consider them all that impressive.

So what? Why am I talking to this person? I should walk away and not waste my time. . .if I get annoyed then it's really my fault for caring. . .

I live with someone like this. I swear, he'd probably try to convince me that he knows more about female issues than I do (I'm serious, he probably would). I find this HIGHLY annoying, as these people seem to constantly imply that you aren't intelligent on whatever topic it is at that moment.

Its more annoying when they waive their degree around. Some of the dumbest people I've met have a college education. UPDATE: but I like to mess with them!

Sometimes I will try to reason with them, but most times it is useless to try to argue with these self-appointed authorities. Bird has the best idea: just get away from them .

After five minutes of their diatribe I excuse myself politely so they can bore some other "victim".

I think we've all had a similar experience using RIA. I say tune them out and move on. Unless you're in a mood to really get into it, that is. I'm hardly ever in that kind of mood.
