French-Canadians 3

Just to reiterate, I give every group a three. Call me P.C., gnash your teeth, whatever...Of course, due to numbers, and customs, laws, etc some groups are more 'important' than others, but I find that it may be a trite cliche, but there is good, bad, and indifferent in all groups... Now that I've bemused, bothered, or left you with no tangible reaction at all, back to French Canadians. They're common in N.England as Genghis says, and the further north you go the more common they are, also the closer you are to the Connecticut River, the more prevalent they are- lots of these people in Western Mass in particular. Many came down the river and settled that area. There's plenty in upstate N.Y. too for obvious geographic reasons, and the Upper Midwest, many names here in Indiana, such as Vincennes are of French derivation, as they settled and trapped here, and traded with the Native Americans. My late aunt was French Canadian and from Quebec. Good people, important in N. England history and in the history of industry of the region.

French-Canadians 2

The French Canadians are heavily concentrated in New England and in some of the other states close to Quebec. Colonies of Franco-Canadians settled in various parts of the northern USA in the 19th Century where free land was still available.
