With the changing of the immigration quotas, many thousands of this group have immigrated. They are usually found in areas of Portuguese immigrants.

These are a mix of African and Potuguese people who speak a language that is very similar to the latter. Hard working, friendly people in my experience. There are a lot of these people in Working class communities in Boston, especially in parts of Dorchester and Roxbury. A great many of them, as you might expect coming from islands, live and work in the fishing industry in coastal cities such as Fall River and New Bedford MA as well as parts of Rhode Island. I do not know what other parts of the country have Cape Verdean communities besides the N.Y.C. area, anyone know?

From the Cape Verde islands, off the west coast of Africa, basicly an extention of the Sahara desert, a dry, desolate, poor island chain with little or no natural resources left. Most residents immigrate if given the chance.
