This is a unique sub-group within the Italians. Sicily has a long, tragic and separate history from most of the Italian Boot. This was a poor area and Sicilians had a different dialect and were more clannish and reserved. I have read statistics that 90% of the immigrants from the Italian states and later, Italy, came from south of Rome. Sicilians probably constitute one third to forty percent of all Italians in the USA

My wife keeps on pushing for us to go to Sicily to see if any of my (unknown) ancestors and relatives are mafia! I don't think I want to know...

I got some Sicilian in my family. Supposedly I even got a little mafia in my lineage!
