Lucy was a well-intentioned clutz and Desi did the best he could to keep her in line but he had a short fuse. They somehow seemed to balance each other out quite nicely. I used to get a kick out of these old re-runs.

I did not grow up in the '50s when they were popular, but I (a kid of the '80s) have fortunately had the opportunity to see these programs in reruns, and I thoroughly get a kick out of watching them. "I Love Lucy" is truly comedy at its finest. It came on in an innocent era where the word "pregnant" was considered too strong a language for TV. Contrast that with TV now, where one four-lettered word after another comes from an actor's lips, and no one even bats an eye. This is why I really appreciate old shows such as this -- pure, guilt-free family fun!

Ball was really the first woman to be able to truly express herself in comedy, although Gracie Allen came pretty close.

The best clean, comedic entertainment out there. I Love Lucy is better than anything on Comedy Central.

There is room enough to acknowledge Desi Arnaz's contribution as foil to Lucy's genial antics, but he never did master comic timing as Jean Stapleton or Sheila MacRae or, if you will, Art Carney would in their respective matchings.

I don't care how many years they've been on reruns, or how many times I've seen each episode, I still love to watch these two. Throw in William Frawley and Vivian Vance as Fred and Ethel Mertz and it was classic. An ensemble for the ages.

Their comedy wasn't based on throwaway lines or bawdy situations. They earned every laugh they got, and they got it well
