While I am sort of his political opposite, and I find some of his political views laughable. I respect the fact that he has faith. No doubt he believes in God.

I find the timing of this list impeccable in light of my recent disagreements with the Christian Fundamentalists on this site. As a Roman Catholic I whole-heartedly believe in the Lord- a Loving and Supreme Being that created all that is good. I pray quite often, argue for moral principles and truths in public life and for the free exercise of religion for everyone. I believe in tolerance of behaviors that I don't necessarily approve but not the promotion of them as public virtues. Most importantly I believe the greatest gift the Lord has given us is not the Bible or some other Holy Book but our ability to REASON, to find what is true through God's nature and understand it within the trancendant and metaphysical principles of a living and loving God. I do not believe people are going to burn in the pits of hell because they believe that creep the Pontiff is a Holy Man and a decendant from Peter. I do not believe that people are dangerous to the world if they believe Jahova, Allah or no God at all. I believe we are eventually judged on our behavior and the goodness of our hearts here on earth. I believe it is better to live a moral life being at all times cognizant that you are to be judged- understanding that you have a commitment to not only yourself but the world around you. I believe if you struggle to be moral- to find your way to the Lord- regardless of your chosen dogma that you will be saved. To me there is no difference between the mindset of people who argue the text of the Koran or the Bible vehemently as though they have a direct line to the Lord. They are defiling our existance as human beings in the eyes of God by neutering our ability to fully understand our world as it exists.

I venture to say Lance and I probably disagree about EVERYTHING...but he's civil, seems to have a sense of humor, and articulates the conservative postiion at least as well as the numbing talking-heads on the radio.
