Science, theology, and faith have been known to work in harmony -- and there are a few scientists who happen to be Christians!

People who claim that there is some sort of a divide between science and theology are just plain misinformed. Go to any seminary, and they'll teach all the social and political philosophers, beginning with the ancient tradition of Plato, Aristotle and the Roman Stoics and going through the medieval tradition to the modern tradition like Darwin, Marx and Kierkegaard. Religion has its foundation in modern science. Science and theology actually go hand in hand as a means of explaining phenomenon in nature. As Donovan points out, too many mistake faith for theology, bottom line is that both are actually interrelated and cannot be studied apart.

It's not irritating behavior. After all, most aren't smart enough to study one let alone both. . .

Is it irritating? Not really, when most people do not put forth arguments on either side and just let things be. If you are going to assert that something is true or untrue, though, do your research. I've seen this done on all sides, assumptions are made without actually doing research. It only hurts your own credibility and the credibility of the side you're supporting if you don't get informed.

Science: The observation, identification, description, experimental investigation, and theoretical explanation of phenomena. Such activities applied to an object of inquiry or study. Theology: The study of the nature of God and religious truth; rational inquiry into religious questions. A system or school of opinions concerning God and religious questions: Protestant theology; Jewish theology. A course of specialized religious study usually at a college or seminary. Such activities restricted to a class of natural phenomena. I believe many people often confuse Theology with faith. One is not necessarily the same as the other. Science has never discounted the Bible and the Bible has never discounted factual science. I believe they work hand in hand and only enhance the other.
