I can think of a lot of things that would be more irritating than this, but I can't understand with all the topic there are to talk about why people become so obsessed with celebrities. They may make more money, but that's about the only difference.

I do it a bit. I'm guilty of it. But it can get irritating if the person doesn't know about important currant affairs (War, environmental disaster), yet they know the latest on Paris Hilton.
