Well, I've never accosted them...at least in physically removing them from my property! But nevertheless I do have my ways! It's simple really. When they come to my door, I simply start debating them on the finer points of their religion. Put together, this religion has predicted an impending Armageddon, over 15 times over 130 years by my count! And lets not go into their methods! They literally use fear and intimidation to swell their ranks. That's why you see them at your door so many times; their leaders paint a doomsday scenario and encourage people to get out there and spread the word! And where does it say in the Bible that one cannot take blood transfusions? What does the physical body have to do with eternity? But they don't believe in the afterlife, they think that after death, the human body dissolves into nothing. There is no "human spirit"; our existence here is purely physical. Yet, this doesn't connect with the fact that they claim that God and the Holy Spirit are both forces, like electricity. If certainly God and the Holy Spirit are merely a force in the universe, why then wouldn't humans also contain such a force that animates our behavior as well? And if there is such a force, why then would humans dissolve both physically and spiritually after death, while God and the Holy Spirit in fact exist independent of time? Theologically, were really a mirror image of that creation. They in short, seem to take the God out of God. What then is the point of the religion?? Much of the religion I sense was influenced heavily by late 19th Century Existentialism. Nevertheless, if you have the time, engage them. Many times you'll find that they won't come back to your house after 2 or 3 times if you do so. They like members who can be easily brainwashed!

I have written elsewhere that I invite in the Mormons, but the JW's give me the creeps and Fido howls and gets the runs!

yes they can be annoying. quite a few years ago when my kids were very small and I was alone during the day and very desperate to ANYONE to talk to. I actually allowed a jehovah's witness in my home. I figured did not hurt to at least listen to what she had to say. Well of course she could not talk about her beliefs in one visit so she set up many visits. I let her come once a week for about six weeks. she even took me over to the Jehovah's church. It was interesting to at least hear what the jehovah's beliefs were. and like a lot of religions they believed that their way is the right way.i had no intention of becoming a jehovah's witness.they can be pretty pushy in getting you to go with their beliefs. the woman was decent to me but I knew i had to stop the visits since i was not going to convert.but for about six weeks i got a bit of a view of their beliefs. this was when my kids were very tiny and i had no car and was stranded in a 14 by 70 mobile home. shows you how desperate I was to just have someone to talk to.

It's very annoying and if you ask me downright intrusive. Jehovah Witnesses don't give people a choice and show no respect concerning privacy when it comes to peoples homes. If someone wants to join their following, church or whatever they should leave it to those people to do so and not keep up the persitance as its very off-putting. That's why I have little respect for them and empathise with stories of trying to get rid of them on your damn doorstep at 7am on a Sunday morning.

Especially at 8:00 on a Saturday morning.

In a perfect world, you could make The Witnesses and The Nation of Islam trade "The Watchtower" for "Muhammad Speaks" and have them hawk the other's periodical on street corners.

Loss of one annoying star, because sales people also do it. But Jehohah's Witnesses are the only religious denomination that go door-to-door in my area. And it's usually on a Saturday morning, at 7am. I'm polite to them, and I'm pro-religious freedom, but I think people's homes are a No Go Zone. Home is a sanctuary.

That is the problem with most religions. They all want to believe that their own is the real mccoy. When they show up at my door, I just slam it in there face. That way they know not to come back. My relationship with My God is none of anyones business but my own. That is the way it should be for everybody. Dont preach to me, or insult my beliefs, just do your own thing.

There's far more irritating behavior on this list. You have every right to suggest reading material to someone. . .and they have every right to tell you that you a lemming-esqe cult member. Free speech means you have to take it as well as dish it out. . .

You know, as an Atheist, or an Agnostic, or whatever the heck I am, this truly does not bother me. I agree with Adios on this (and truly, I never thought I'd say that) It's kind of nice to know that someone else is worried enough about my soul to try and teach me the right way to go. Not to mention the Watchtower magazines that I've read have had some really thought-provoking articles, even for a non-believer.
