This is what I think about religion. I agree 100% with it.

An 18th Century code-word for agnosticism/atheism. The 'religion' of nearly all the founding fathers; faded quickly in the 1800s as revivalist Protestantism took off.

This doctrine was very common in the 18th Century and many of the USA Founding Fathers were deists. It arose after the discovery of various natural forces by Isaac Newton and others. In a nutshell, this belief circumscribes the power of the deity by natural forces. As an alternative, it taught that God created the universe, set everything in motion, and then stepped aside to let nature take its course. The watchword was "Whatever is, is right!"
