Actually, I think you're off on this one Genghis. I think it has more to do with the religious sects that reject the authority of the clergy, and view mainstream churches as "apostate churches" in league as the Whore of Babylon with the multiheaded beast of the state. I choose "I don't know" because as an outsider to religion I don't feel qualified to argue what is best for those within the religion.
