I used McAfee including the firewall for many years. Their products seems ccould not catch up with the development of the industry. Until recently, I was using a McAfee Enterprise version. Time to time, the McScript_InUse.exe takes up to arround 98% of CPU usage, as a symptom the CPU fan runs at its highest speed, and it last for several hours. You have to stop it using some anti-malware assistant software, since sometimes you just can not stop it in the windows task manager. Is this not a malware itself? The cpu temperature is important for a laptop. Although I can not say that McAfee burns the CPU to death, one of my laptop CPU fan was damaged after long time running at its highest speed, another laptop main board or the cpu was burned to death before I find out that the McScript_InUse.exe greatly increases the CPU temperature.
Another weird thing is that it does not compat with the 2008-ranked # 1 firewall, Online Armor. If you installed both, you will get a blue screen.
Both of the above phenomena have been posted by lots of users at different websites, I should have made a research on these issues to avoid such mal-things happen.

McAfee Antivirus 2

I installed an enterprise version of McAfee antivirus. It causes a blue screen of Windows XP several times after the installation, which has never been happend before the installation. I observed that the blue screen happened one time when another preinstalled antivirus software updates online. After I uninstalled the McAfee Antivirus, I never encountered the blue screen.

I previously also installed a McAfee Firewall, which I think need not to update frequently. However, the firewall always jump to the desktop to ask me to update, which is really annoying and silly!

Put all this together, I hate McAfee!

I'm not actually rating the Antivirus protection. I am rating McAfee Customer service. I subscribed to a whole suite of McAfee PC products. A number of times I have needed customer/tech support. I have tried text message support but I swear it must not have been a real person on the other end because whatever it was kept repeating/rephrasing what I said but still did not seem to understand. [I am a computer professional so I know the correct lingo.] Then the c.s. rep said I needed to call in for telephone support and gave me a number. The number was the same, and only one I had seen on the website. There was a significant fee by McAfee for the call. I called and the only thing I got, before McAfee hung up on me, was a recording that said I had to call the CORRECT number which I could find on the website. GRRRRRR!!! As soon as my subscriptions are up I'm switching to Norton. I've heard nothing but good about them.
