Hollywood is shovelling out bad stuff, the prices are going through the roof, amenities are getting worse, but Hollywood will make it on the back end from issuing DVD's of the good stuff from the past.

Lets see, a family four goes to a movie $8.50 each to get in, a large popcorn $5 and drinks $4.50 each. Then you watch 10 minutes of commercials and another 15 of previews. You do the math and then tell me how big this event really was.

There weren't that many wonderful movies this year. In exception of War of the Worlds, Madagascar, and I suppose Star Wars, as well as a couple select others. I mean, you can expect a slump when you advertise something called March of the Penguins.

I'm with Djahuti on this one. I've already discoursed countless times on the abysmal, crappy state of movies coming out of Hollywood for the past several decades, so I'll spare the reader another diatribe on that score. The only recourse for a movie-buff like myself is to re-discover the gems that were put out years ago on video and DVD. In truth, it's been a rewarding experience and I recommend it highly. Guys like Cagney, Bogart, etc. put to shame so many of the so-called Stars of today.

Gee, why would that happen? Gas is closing in on 3 bucks a gallon, the stock market is on a roller coaster, our friends and relatives are getting killed in a sham War-and we're supposed to pay eight fifty to watch the latest crappy film? Not to mention the availability and convenience of videos (now you can buy used ones for like a buck) and DVDs.

Yes, but last year we had a much stronger stable of movies coming out. Like I've said before, Hollywood needs to get its creative juices flowing, or else the trend will become more pronounced.
