Whatever happen to watching a movie, just for the sake of watching a movie?

I've stopped going to one of my old favorite hangouts because one of my friends (great guy, otherwise) would only talk about two topics. One, he was obsessed with Asian culture, and ANYTHING Asian was praise-worthy (I'm Chinese, and even I found that to be pretty nauseating after a while). The other: certain movies. If it wasn't the Matrix, it was Lord of the Rings, or it was Star Wars, and it wasn't just about the movies, it was about the supposed philosophy behind it all. Yeah, not a bad movie topic once in a while. But this went on for YEARS. Yeah, I liked those movies, too. But after a while, you gotta stop and say Hey, it's FICTION. Don't get too caught up in it.
