11/02/2005 | At least a 1000 reviews? Whew, that's a lot. I've been on the site for two and a half years and have only accumulated 600 reviews. I agree with Gentle Jude, here. Slow and steady is the way to go.

08/07/2005 | I have to agree with this one, because I've seen that term used by the more experienced reviewers used to describe users which may be in the top 50 yet ONLY have 950 comments. I am starting to think like that, but I think under 600 is the limit for me. Anything over 600 is not really a newbie, but they certainly aren't experienced. Yet at the same time, there are reviewers who may only have 700 comments yet have been here for years. They have a lot of friends and know the site very well yet decide not to write many comments.

07/13/2005 | I don't think newbie can be so glibly defined by an arbitrary number of posts. It's far easier and less time consuming to write a thousand effortless, sentence-long posts than it is to write a hundred thoughtful ones. Similarly, one cannot simply escape the status of newbie by letting time pass. It's perfectly possible to spend ages somewhere and still be clueless about it.

07/12/2005 | I define it as anyone with less reviews than me. Sad thing with that is I have more reviews than people who think of me as a newbie. UPDATE: Who in blazes thought that a joke with a self-depriciating potshot was unhelpful?

07/10/2005 | I'll have to check but I believe my one year anniversary isn't that far off but I don't have that many posts...oh well. For me, and for many others I suspect, RIA is a place to have fun and enjoy the wide variety of opinions that aren't often found on CNN or Fox News. As far as the 1000 reviews thing goes...not really. Personally it's really a matter of quality over quantity.

07/10/2005 | I've never even thought about doing this. I've only been here a year myself, but I think some of the most interesting people lately are reviewers that have only been here a few months. If they know what they're talking about, and they have a lifetime of experience, why would I insult them.

07/09/2005 | Kind of. I'd say under 250 is definately newbie (or infrequent poster, depending on the situation). I generally like new people here. Refreshing newer points of view, usually haven't morphed into a stereotype, and not quite yet so biased against other reviewers.
