Never was there a more childish response than 'I know you are, but what am I?' as it took a life all to its own. And it forever gained infamy having been used in the movie Pee-wee's Big Adventure's (1985) dialogue by the very symbol of childishness himself, Pee Wee Herman.

I don't know how much this phrase is said now, but it was definitely uttered a lot when I was a child and Pee Wee Herman was still on TV.

I never saw the logic in this statement. It always seemed to me to open the door to further insult. I should know, it backfired on me everytime I said it, lol.
