I know a few Loud Howards. You know,
the kind of people who can't keep a secret even if their lives
depended on it. The Loud Howards I know are more into protecting
themselves over others, in other words they scream about you and your
secrets but expect you to keep their secrets.
I had a friend that became a Loud
Howard. It stemmed from his arrogance I think. He felt that his own
contributions to a conversation were more important than the feelings
of his friends and comrades. His arrogance played a part by making
him value his own image over that of others to the point where
humiliating even his closest friends was acceptable...to him.
The Loud Howard in Dilbert is less
like an actual character, as you can see by the lack of information
about him, and more like a metaphor of a kind of person. Someone who
can't be trusted with information, someone who sees their own life as
superior to others, and also someone who feels that cheap laughs are
worth the animosity they will gain from those most affected. Loud
Howard is probably the best character in that comic, and short lived
show, when it comes to representing real people. Oh and that person
who I said was a Loud Howard, well... I call him Loud Howard, almost
every day.
