I think it's kind of stupid. It's more of something that old fashioned developers use. I know it's taken on a mainstream name now and it's even used by adobe but I have never muched like this term.

WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET. Sadly that still doesn't stop many people from pushing the old "entry" button.

Great description of online text-editing programs. This is how it should be - What you see is what you get! I like to pronounce it "wissywig": so sue me.
