If you have a generator you won't have to worry about someone or something such as the weather knocking out the power. You will still be able to watch TV. Only problem with Satellite is bad weather. In heavy rain or snow the signal can degrade substantially depending where you are located.

Satellite is a digital technology so, I see the argument about wiring not being as capable of carrying digital signals (fiber optic maybe being the exception). Satellite is broadcast directly to a household while the same signal has to go through the cable providers equipment first then those cables talked about then to a household.

Yea and not have to worry about satellite going out if someone hits a phone pole.. although your electric most likely WOULD... hmm
