Gaza is the principal city and governmental center of the Gaza Strip. Gaza is located in Southwestern Asia between the Mediterranean Sea and Western Israel. Gaza began as an Egyptian garrison town, and was later one of the primary cities of the Philistines. During the wars of the Maccabees and during the Crusades, Alexander the Great overwhelmed Gaza, and held the city for over five months time. Gaza was traditionally considered a commercial area, a meeting place for trading caravans of travelers between Egypt and Syria. Due to the unrest between Israel and Palestine in the Gaza Strip, Gaza has been the scene of several acts of violence and terrorism. The estimated population of Gaza is 381,000. (Add picture)

Again hamas is sexing up the peacefulness of Gaza, with the Israeli governement. Food aid, water, power, and financial packages are being taken advantage by these terrorists. Why should Israel suffer, and be fooled by the Palestinians, when the militants continue to launch rockets?. Why would Israel tries always to support, and elevate the life of the Palestinians, and yet they realize not their mistakes, despite an effort from the Israeli government trying harder to improve good relationship with them?. Look, you don't anylonger support those who don't appreciate, your capacity of great help, despite many disappointments made by hamas everytime. I think it's now enough for Israel to let go, the Palestinians to face, unbearable challenges, and pay a heavy price for their actions. Being patient, and good sometimes is regarded as foolery, especially, when people draw nearer integrity. Nothing to say, but just for Israel to allow the Palestinians, to go on that path. Israel must completely cut off some aid, and power, and let the Palestinians face the consequences. I think the Palestinians will be bitterly sorry, and regret that. That's the only solution to relief the suffering of Israel in the hands of the Palestinians. The Plaestinians are taking advantages, and abuse themselves after all.

UPDATE: Hamas is still making the Palestinians suffer. It's still justifiable for Isarel to maintain it's first position. The Palestinians have not yet learn their last, final lessons. This is the most powerful weapon Israel can ever use than any weapon at all to fight Hamas. Tit-for-tat. This is what humans understand.

With Arafat gravely ill and the Israel Knesset voting to pull out of the Gaza strip it will be interesting to see what happens over the coming months, since dissenters are pushing for a national referendum on the issue. The withdrawal is actually scheduled for 2005 and appears to have popular support of the Israeli people. Yet there are many others who, based on their religious or ideological grounds, are saying that no 'earthly' Government has a right to do this. The plan calls for evacuation of all the settlements in the Gaza Strip and four in the northern west bank. Anyone see a correlation between this just-in-time decision and the upcoming US presidential election? Just wondering.

The Gaza Strip is one of the most densely populated areas in the world. It's full of refugees; plenty of political unrest. This is a major sore point in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The port has been blockaded by Israel for the past few years, devastating the local economy. The unemployment here is very high, truly a very sad case here.

Gaza's a really small place. I went on a virtual tour. It's considered very holy to Muslims and I know you'll like seeing some of the Arabic Architecture. But there's not a lot of things to do here. Mostly religious. If you are Islamic, You will feel at peace, but if you aren't, You'll just do a lot of tourist shopping. :)
