If I lived in rural area, satellite may be the only choice but living in or near a city like I do really doesn't compel me to jump to satellite.

cable is becoming available in more remote areas but right now the satellites win this one.

You try getting CATV in the middle of Brewster County. The only TV in these very remote areas is the sattelite dish.

Only way to fly when you're out in BFE with no cable company to call, and no off-air antenna big enough to haul in signal.

If it weren't for satellite.. and the very affordable option we had- we didn't have to pay big bucks for the equipment, we'd still be watching the local cbs station. I don't see cable coming out here soon, not to mention everyone down my road and surrounding areas have the satellite up so good chance my neighbors won't switch to cable anyway.

Only way to go in some places.

I am moving to a rural area and there is no hope or prospect of any right-thinking company finding it financially rewarding to lay cable all the way out there in the near future. However, satellite TV reception is possible due to good signal strength.
