The new format simply isn't that functional. Unless if there are formatting tools on the page, I don't see the purpose of having almost a full page of white space just to rate an item. It also doesn't make sense to be re-directed to the list that's being rated rather than the page you were at before. The pop-up rate-it box was much more efficient.

Of the many bad ideas, this is one of the worst.

Ok let's encourage more long winded comments, shall we?

This is an event, well what about what came with it. After you hit submit you don't go back to the previous page, your dumped into the list of what ever it was that you just rated. I like the old way better at least then I could make a choice if I want to look at the list or keep going with what I was doing. I agree that this is another non-event.

I don't enjoy it much myself either. While I prefer being sent to the web or rating list rather than the actual reviews, I hate not comparing my review to that of others so I can make sure I'm not repeating the same thought or using the same terminology.

i hate this, now when i'm done rating i am sent to the list rather the item and it sucks lots.

The looming visage of a massive blank page has been a source of intimidation to authors since the dawn of time, why introduce it onto the user-friendly network of RIA? Another thing that annoys me about this change is the fact I can't see the other comments on a given topic whilst writing. I often need to see these whilst debating or checking my comment isn't redundant in context of previous posts.

Don't care for it, mostly for all the reasons Pbeavr states in his review. What's with the jumping back to the top 20 on every list after you comment? Of all the things that could have been improved, doing this was a definate retrograde step.

I'm not crazy about it but I'm sure I'll get used to it.
LanceRoxas 07/15/2005
now maybe Lawrence should fix the number of comments left that are always incorrect and the same number as the people who left ratings.

numbah's right (unless he's referring to me) and so is texasyankee. I thought this would enable me to proof-read my novels (I mean opinions) better but I've made more typos and omitted or juxtaposed more letters than before. Go figure.

It's good and bad. I like having it larger so I can see if I made any errors, but I used to like having the other reviews in the background, with my lousy memory, sometimes I forget who it is that wrote the review I am responding to! Could be cool to keep it a pop up above the original page, only keep it large. Also would be awesome, if it were possible to make paragraphs! (am I just dreaming on this one?) Another thing I have noticed, not sure if everyone else has, since the last update, the number of votes is the same as the number of reviews.

Just what we need to encourage the novelists.
