 | DynaSword11252 (26) 05/10/2008 | This can be highly effective, however, there are many "employees" that take avantage of good leadership, you can't give every employee a gold nugget everyday, but, respect daily--I recommend.

 | LastMessenger3 (40) 06/26/2006 | RESPECT! Quite a word. Without respect there's no understanding, no compromise, no likability. Everything, not only in work environment, people should respevt each other because what you give is what you get. Karma is everywhere you go. Respect yourself and respect everyone around you!

 | Djahuti (54) 06/12/2006 | Essential. If I don't get respect,I'm outta there.Employees who put up with disrespect will often find sneaky ways to avenge themselves if they can't quit for some reason.

 | madamedragonlily (5) 06/12/2006 | Always! Even when you are kicking their butt right out the door. That is a #1 rule around here and that ia respect at all times and that includes the employees and the customers. If the employee is treated with respect and appreciation for the work they do then they seem to try to do their best because they don't want to lose that.

 | Silver Eagle 252 (8) 03/26/2006 | Agree with all the previous comments. Respect goes a long way in terms of motivation and loyalty. However, a lot of younger workers don't seem to get the fact that respect is earned not owed. You do your job right and work hard, you certainly deserve the respect. If you're lazy and/or simply incompetent, the best respect is to show you the door.

 | texasyankee (21) 07/23/2005 | Definitely. However don't be going behind that person's back either. My boss in the hospital did that. I had not known that during the whole time I was sick, she was calling up my dr and telling him not to give me time off because she needed me in there. She nearly had me killed during that time. Think I stuck around? heck no. Not a person to sue, but I most definitely had the reason to sue.

 | Mr Evangel (5) 07/12/2005 | This is a big Duh!! If an employer wants a truly successful business he will treat his employees like gold. Employees are what make the business happen. Respect is treating the employees like truly good hard working people not slaves. However, don't misunderstand I'm not talking about the employees out there who are lazy. People who for some reason come to a job thinking there boss owes them something makes me sick. I have had to work after slackers my whole life, they need to be fired! But for employees that are truly good workers Respect! Customers should come first right after the employees!

 | middlefinger (4) 12/04/2004 | This is a must for managers and supervisors. I work under a woman who routinely discusses the members of her unit with anyone who will listen. As a result, we don't trust her as far as we could pick her up and throw her. She brown-noses until it is embarassing. When we leave the office for lunch, etc. she goes into our file cabinets and takes records out. We don't know that they're missing until a client calls. She's slated to retire in '06. I can't wait. I think that a very dark and very menacing cloud will disappear from over our building when she gets into her car and rides off into the retirement sunset.

 | jgls (12) 09/24/2004 | this is a definite start; our management team thinks that we are lazy, stupid and incompetent which is basically the same thing we think about them.

 | reeny (3) 07/25/2004 | This is sort of like a you scratch my back and i'll scratch yours situation. I know that when the supervisors at my place of employment treat my coworkers and I with respect. which means being open-minded and listening to our concerns, our motivation to do our best peaks.

 | Bird808 (52) 07/20/2004 | You'd be amazed at how motivated employees are when shown some simple genuine respect. How much does it cost just to acknowledge someone and show some appreciation of what they do?
