08/04/2005 | i am devastated. please come back! i read this shocking news this morning and it brought tears to my eyes. i will miss her very much here. but i was blessed in the fact that she has become a friend and i will talk to her soon.......i was so glad she decided not to leave. it is sick and wrong to say the things that were said or to threaten anyone here at ria. whoever you are your opinion must not mean very much if you have to resort to this. gone away is a very nice funny woman and to attack her shows weakness in mind body and soul. peace.

07/20/2005 | I seriously doubted she would ever leave. Even I still poke my head in here now and then- and I get my share of nasty messages as well. Once you get going, it's hard to ever leave the site for good.

07/20/2005 | I'm really glad Goneaway is staying, but to read her post on the reasons as to why she was leaving was truly a shame. Whoever sent that personal message needs help, because for someone to get so personal at a very vulnerable time in another persons life is really quite sad and almost cowardly if thats the only weapon you can use. There have been many times that I've read some very personal direct insults on this site and I've had to turn a blind eye. I'm all for people stating their opinions, but theres a line people simply don't cross and too many times on this site I have seen it happen. I hate to say this, but I think RIA needs to clamp down on too much freedom of speech jargon so that their not attracting too much negative people to this site and turning quality reviewers such as Goneaway away. She truly has made some excellent contributions.

07/19/2005 | I was just preparing to write some comments about my disappointment in her leaving, but wanted to see real quick what the others wrote first...and discovered that she's back. Maybe she should change her name to BackAgain! In any case, I'm glad for it. She's a good prayer warrior, a strong Christian woman, and has extraordinary good sense (especially during those times that she agrees with me! :D).

07/19/2005 |  I'm glad this is now a 2-star rating as Gone has returned. She was pretty shook and, while some sniveling little sh!t might or might not get under my skin, the reality is that some on this site saw this episode as a reason to be afraid of the body of information (on posts and on user-pages) each of us makes available to anyone (and everyone) on the site. I've noticed several user pictures deleted and on some pages all information is now gone. We've all seen the improvements Lawrence has painstakingly brought to the site recently, and each of us is entitled to our own unique reaction to each one. The point is he's trying to make it a better place. My own opinion is that I'm not risking anything by posting a picture of my son and my pot belly on the user-page here. I'm hoping that we return to normal here very soon and that the user pages will continue to be an entertaining way to represent the identity each of us wants to portray to our fellow raters, without fear, and with just a healthy dose of caution and discretion. Let's get back to normal (whatever that is).

07/18/2005 | You can't keep a good woman down. GoneAway's back and RIA is the better for it. Like the rest of her friends, I invite the scumbag that wrote all those cruel and cowardly words to her, to write to me. But I suppose it wouldn't do any good. Like all cowards he has found a safe haven, and an ideal place to hide behind his words. But I'm a firm believer that everyone gets theirs. Welcome back dear friend. O.C. For me, here on RIA, this is the biggest event of 2005. I already said on another post how I feel about her. She will be greatly missed by most of us here. I'm still hoping it's just temporary. God Bless you friend.

07/18/2005 | UPDATE: GoneAway is staying! Thank goodness, because she really brings joy to all of us. Her home is right here, on RIA -- this site would have been so empty and void without her. ORIGNAL: When GoneAway left, RIA lost a PURE GEM. But I'll always fondly remember the good times she shared with me (and other RIA reviewers). GoneAway, I love and miss you -- and I know there are many others who share my sentiments.

(I will NOT respond to any private messages) This way the entire RIA community can watch me verbally kick your ass and then wipe the floor with whatever is left. Bring it on.

07/18/2005 | I'm glad she changed her mind; vicious comments like that from people who aren't content to hide behind their already-anonymous name by using yet ANOTHER anonymous name aren't worth it (I still don't get that; we're ALL pretty much anonymous here, why not go ahead and say what you have to say? It's just a new level of pathetic). However, to address other comments, I'll have to say, along with PBeavr, that moderators do not have any ability that would allow us to do anything. (Actually, since ANYONE now can add to ANY list, moderators, well, don't really have ANY ability at all that regular users don't have. Just a tag.) And, IJR, I'm afraid your theory can't be correct; if she were waiting for the Harry Potter book, she'd probably STILL be waiting in line now!

07/17/2005 | I was sorry to hear this had happened and I believe this list had something to do with it. If you look at her last six or so posts you will see that her last ratings were about others who had left the site. I am not blaming the list it's just a theory. She had a strange sense of humor but she was always respectful and whats not afraid to tell you what she thought of your posts. I guess for those of us who put up with the mindless drivel that has leaked into the site, we have lost a comrade.

07/17/2005 | All things considered, I'm still relatively new to the site, so I am not as familiar with GoneAway as some others. I did enjoy reading her posts, and her screenname is one that would always catch my attention...in a good way...when browsing new posts. I did have a brief but pleasant interaction with her through private messages not long ago about vacuum cleaners and cats, lol. She was the same way then as she is on the public board: Plain spoken and not trying to be something she isn't.
