Only if made with different kinds of apples. . .but people tend to ruin this simple recipe by doing too much. . .a great apple pie is as simple as they come. Solid four here. . .

I'm not much into apple pie, or any pie for that matter, but I will eat it. I'd rather have a slab of chocolate cake.

Delicious, but despite the saying "American as apple pie," it actually originated in 14th century England, and evolved from yorkshire pudding.

Can't beat this, except for 'gumbo' (as part of a different menu, 'natch).

Try it warmed, with a slice of melted cheddar cheese on top. That's the way it was eaten years ago, and I still enjoy it like that. Most people nowadays give me funny look when I ask for apple pie with cheddar.

Nothing says the holidays better and is typically American as a freshly-baked apple pie, generously served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top (apple pie a la mode)!

Everyone always says, "It's as American as apple pie." Yet how distinctively American is it really? Do we think that people in the rest of the world don't make apple pies? They're great and all, but I don't think we can lay exclusive claim to it.

Apple pie is really overrated. When there are so many better options such as blackberry, raspberry, peach, cherry, etc., why go with a pie that has way to much cinnamon and from a fruit that loses most of its flavor when you cook it?
