The term "the hot dish" can refer to way too many things to rate it anything but three stars. Since this is GTH's list, and he has reviewed this item, I take it to refer to any hot dish that has a tendency to show up at potlucks and such. This includes a LOT of things. Some are great, and then there are the mystery casseroles.

What would American picnics, church suppers, or even funeral wakes bee without the hot dish? I am surprised that this is an American invention since it is so practical and easy to make. I thought others would have thought of it before the Americans started to refer to hot dishes.
