A properly made, homemade pecan pie is amazing. However, it's way too easy to run into the mass produced variety, which are little more than sugary goo with just enough pecans on top to qualify as a pecan pie.

Yes, indeedy. With them, most any other dessert can combine - even chocolate.

I grew up around these pies, but never wanted to try one because i wasn't ever sure just what that gooey clear filling was.  I finally got up the courage to try one pretty recently, and it was actually quite good.

The Wal -Mart Pecan Pies are nasty, as well as others, like frozen. The best Pecan Pie I ever had, they sold them in Parisian, believe it or not, around the holidays, not sure if I remember the name of the company who makes the pies, but they are great!!  It's one of my favorites, go to Parisian and buy you a few in December.

Pecan pie is really good until you go to take the second bite; it's a little too rich for me.
