Brazzaville is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Congo. Brazzaville is located on the Congo River and has an estimated population of 600,000 people. French explorer Pierre Savorgnan de Brazza founded Brazzaville in 1880 on the site of a village named Ntamo. Sites in Brazzaville include St. Anne’s Basilica, the ELF Tower, and the Brazzaville Zoo. The Congo River Rapids are located outside of Brazzaville in the location where the Congo and Djoue Rivers converge.
