Most folks that work in politics talk out of both sides of their mouths. But some make an art form out of it. Listen to Karl Rove praise Sarah Palin's qualifications to be VP, and then mock Virginia governor, and former mayor of Richmond, Tim Kaine's qualifications. How do these people sleep at night?

He has accomplished the near impossible and actually made politics dirtier.
To quote Henry Kissinger, 90 % of politicians give the other 10% a bad name.

This list, and Goldberg's book, which inspired it, are symptomatic of our cultural desire to scapegoat. By all means, let us ignore the myriad complexities of our society, and its increasingly difficult and possibly insoluble problems; let us instead point to our whipping boy of choice, be it Bush, or Moore, or Clinton or Rove or Romero, or whomever, and blame it on them. Sorry folks, I ain't buying. If we're getting screwed up, we all bear a piece of the responsibility.

Hurting? The hurt has been done. I agree with the rater below me. Let's stop talking and get rid of some of these idiots. Afterall, this is a CRIME. In fact, a CRIME punishable by death. I refuse to be distracted. I don't want him out. I want him TRIED! Some act as if it's just some sensational scandal or something. This is TREASON, people! I want this man dead or getting raped by Bubba the rest of his life. All that being said, I guess Bush will give him an award or trophy or something soon. Hell, let's just elect him president in '08. Why not? We're all sheep here, right? Hey, I gotta solution for our debt..........let's sale Iraq some Stealth Bombers! Why not?!? This is one big %$^#storm. Party......wuuuuuuuuuuuh! What has happend to us? Have we become so blind that treason is okay with us as long as it came from our party? This is about America. Not who gets to say I told you so. F Democrats and Republicans.......................this man needs to be tried. In fact, EVERYBODY who doesn't think this maN SHOULD BE CRIMINALLY TRIED, SHOULD BE TRIED THEMSELVES! Maybe he should just say, JESUS a few times and we could all forgive him?

Tubby couldnt be President so he found a puppet he could put in front of the masses. Hes the master of mud slinging to take the heat off his candidate. I cant think of anyone whos damaged this country (from within) any worse.

People like Karl Rove and Dick Durbin are the kinds of people who are more concerned about their stature or their party's (and buddies') reputation than the well-being of America. Instead of criticizing Republicans for mistreatment of terrorists and saying democrats want to console them, why don't we unite and try to get rid of them instead of trying to incriminate each other!

Update:Move along nothing to see here folks.Sounds like PlanetaryGear's user page, not much to see.How bout create a weblist before commenting on others?****In response to Earthbound:First off my list was not inspired by anyone or anything.I am just saying don't compare your list to something that it has nothing in common with.(OM)I couldn't agree with Eschew more on this.If you are going to call it The 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America, put all 100 on here, but alot of them are already on my Deplorable Americans list anyway. If you want to see who is screwing America and Americans, refer to my list.
Inmyopinion 07/20/2005
Eschew, yes, this list is mostly against the political right wing. But did you not notice that Louiethe20th's deplorable americans list was mostly against the political left wing? And besides, at least he included some left wingers, Jesse Jackson, Michael Moore, Jimmy Carter, so now they are republicans?
earthbound 07/20/2005
Yes - let's go easy on the listmaker here. The list is clearly still a work in progress, it is rateable, it contains descriptions of each item, and it opens up the possibility for swipes from the left and the right. And louie, in spite of your objective research, some might say that you missed one or two on your list of 'Deplorable Americans', so you are really not in the strongest position to be outraged at this list. I have rated Karl elsewhere (http://www.rateitall.com/i-36085-karl-rove.aspx), so I won't repeat myself here.UPDATE: Yes, on second thoughts, let's have the list deleted, along with all of the other duplicated weblists. Frankly, I don't know how much more protracted metacommentary and ranting about list quality I can be bothered to read, and if this is what it takes for some peace and quiet, then so be it, as far as I am concerned.
Randyman 07/19/2005
PBeavr, I'm going to agree with you on this one. No problem with the list per se, but just too much of the same thing.
EschewObfuscat ion 07/19/2005
This list should be deleted as it is a partisan attack piece developed by the list-maker. We should try to stick to facts when making lists, particularly political lists, and this one has no credibility. This list should at least be changed to the more appropriately entitled, I Hate Republicans and How Do You Like the Way I Smear Them? UPDATE: Earthbound is raising a legitimate caution. My main criticism is that the descriptions provided by the list-maker are opinion and half-truths, not factually verifiable, some verifiably untrue. If he sticks to the facts in those descriptions, I agree, let the list progress. But, he has a long way to go.
jamestkirk 07/19/2005
This recent flap over Rove is purely political and reaching for scandal. Most Americans have no interest in this story. It is a vehicle being rolled by the print and news media that can't stand Bush and Rove. They are keeping this story alive and force feeding it to the American public.
spartacus007 07/19/2005
Be patient, I'm adding lots of people from the left and the right and I hate most of them.

I don't think we can blame one person for all our problems. Rove is a political hack, and an influential one at that, but the Democrats shouldn't lay all their problems at his footsteps. As for the Valerie Plame incident, he'll probably be the subject of a criminal inquiry and may even be indicted, but I doubt he'll go to prison for anything. Outing a CIA agent does have some stiff penalties and it technically is damaging to national security, but he'll skate away on various technicalities, one of them being that the a CIA operative cannot be outed if they've been away from the field for less than 5 years. Plame had been away for 6, so the law really doesn't apply to her. If the Dems want to make an issue of it, they ought to discuss how Bush tried to play up Saddam's nuclear program in the lead-up to the war, which is the big picture issue here. As for Rove, he seems to be a natural target, being that he's a very divisive figure who uses his partisaned sword with a sharp edge against opponents. The fact that he uses race, region, and social issues to divide and play people against each other for electoral gain draws the fire of the Democrats even more. Here a case can be made that he's screwing up America, but he's not the only one doing this. Here's a guy who plays the game very hard, so much so that this isn't the first time he has gotten in trouble over such things. At the end of the day, he'll probably be weaker for it all, but not in prison like many Democrats hope. Unless if they win next time, then who knows, he might become a political prisoner!

Partisan stupidity strikes again I see. Let me get this straight... Osama Bin Laden, Kim Jong-il, Al-Qaeda, and Saddam Hussien are not at all hurting America in any way but bad old Karl Rove is?
James76255 07/19/2005
The only reason anybody knows about Rove is because of the Democrats look to blame anyone they can for their failures. Since they can't get anybody as good at their job as Rove, they paint him as evil. The fact is they would love to have thier own version of a Karl Rove. The description here is incredibly biased. He said nothing about Democrats reaction to the September 11 attacks, and there is far more than enough evidence to back up what he did say.
CastleBee 07/19/2005
Overall, this guy sounds like an ass who should be serving time. Still, I wonder this latest incident would be described by someone on the other side of the issues? His remarks last month, though blunt, certainly hit a nerve. You would have to be in complete denial not to see that some of the more liberal set reacted to the attack on our country as though WE had something to apologize for in regard to it. Probably not the best time to bring it up though.
