12/12/2006 | I have had mostly males over the years but, currently have one of each. From my experience it has a lot more to do with the dog's temprement rather than the sex alone - though, I'm sure that figures in. Still there are things I like about both male and female. The male is a big baby and scared of storms, loud noises and won't even tolerate the sound of anything mechanical (music boxes, toys that talk, other types of recordings). The female on the other hand isn't afraid of anything and actually barks at thunder as though she wants to take it on. She tends to also stick around more often to see what's going on while the male will get some attention and then go off on his own. Both are jealous of the other and are obsessed by treats. I love them both dearly and don't think I could choose between them for any reason.

07/20/2005 | In Staying loyal to my dogs, Ive gotta side here. We have had 3 Nuetered Cocker females over the last 7 years. One of them who was a stray that we adopted died quickly and terribly last year from what was a case of heart worms that we could not come back from. The other two like her, are the sweetest dogs Ive ever had other than my childhood mutt. They will ultimately force us to remove all the carpet and replace with tile in our home but I love them like family.
