10/16/2005 | From what I can tell, the obviousness of the stupidity of this term has been lost upon numerous African-Americans. During and after Katrina, many prominent blacks pointed to the ineptitude of the government's response to the needs of a predominantly black city in time of disaster. Like Kanye West, they seem to believe that this was motivated by discriminatory sentiments.
Speaking on behalf of non African-Americans, I am happy to assure individuals who hold this opinion that the government commonly screws us too. During my 40 plus years on this planet, I have yet to witness low melanin-content being a shield or form of immunity from federal, state or city level incompetence.
